Tina Schiavone celebrates exam success
Progression and learning is absolutely vital for us here at Wynne-Jones IP.
Which is why we are thrilled that Tina Schiavone has passed her necessary exams to become an European Patent Attorney.
To celebrate her fantastic success, we’ve caught up with Tina to find out all the details on her exams, how she celebrated, and what’s next for Wynne-Jones’s newest European Patent Attorney.
What did you pass?
I passed Papers C and D in Europe. This means I am now a fully qualified European Patent Attorney!
When did you pass?
The exams were at the end of February/beginning of March, and I received my results in July.
How much studying and preparation did this take? How long did you study?
I did a couple of JDD courses at the end of November 2017, but didn’t actually start revising properly until the beginning of January.
Were there any particular areas you found challenging? If so, why?
I found it very challenging combining studying for two very hard exams, with my full time job, and life in general! It consumed all of my evenings and weekends, leaving me with very little down time.
Were you relieved when you found out you’d passed?
Yes! Relieved because it meant I was now European qualified!! All the hard work completely paid off.
Who was the first person you told and what did they say?
The first person I told was my boss Vicki Strachan. I won’t repeat exactly what she said, but it’s safe to say she was very pleased for me!
How did you celebrate?
I had a few glasses of wine :)
Now that you’ve qualified, what’s next? Does this enable you to work on any new projects or with new clients?
It’s not quite over for me yet, because I still have a few UK exams to pass! However, being European qualified does mean I can take on more responsibility, and manage my clients and workload with more independence (although I know I am free to ask for help when I need it!).
Are you thrilled to have had the opportunity to become a qualified attorney with Wynne-Jones?
Of course! Wynne-Jones is a wonderful place to work! They have provided me with support and encouragement from day 1, and have really played a huge part in my success.
Would you encourage others to go for it?
Absolutely – it’s such a great environment to work in, and the level of support we receive as trainees (and post-qualification) is second-to-none.
