Three things you didn't know about Amy:

  • Amy decided to study Astrophysics at university after a trip to a space camp in Alabama aged fifteen, where she took part in mock space missions and rode a G-force accelerator.

  • Outside of work, Amy is kept busy by her two children who have a never-ending list of interesting questions about the world.

Experience:

Amy is a European and UK patent attorney with a technical background in Physics. Amy has significant experience in a broad range of IP matters, including patent prosecution and drafting as well as EPO oppositions, including arguing before the EPO Board of Appeal. This work has spanned a range of technology areas but Amy has a particular interest in and affinity with medical devices and mechanical inventions. Examples include lab-on-a-chip devices, actuators, exercise machines and agricultural equipment.

Amy enjoys working with clients across the patent life-cycle and has also been a client of an IP firm herself, having worked as an in-house patent attorney for an engineering company for two years. There, Amy gained experience in the commercial applications of IP and enjoyed working closely with engineers to identify patentable inventions. Prior to that, Amy worked at another leading IP firm where she trained and qualified as a Patent Attorney.

As well as being passionate about technology and innovation, Amy is passionate about equality, diversity and inclusion and is a member of the Women in IP focus group for mentoring.
